Mai Uchida joined the Health Sciences Library in October of 2018. She specializes in innovative data and statistical information management programs that guide users in communicating their results in visually compelling ways. Mai has several years of experience in spatial analysis using ArcGIS and rigorous training in data analysis in R and using publicly available datasets to visualize the results in static and interactive ways, such as web format using html and JavaScript. She also has professional experience in designing effective products such as: presentations, posters, exhibitions, marketing and educational materials.

The scope of Mai's responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, creating strategies for effective communication via visualization and design, providing research guidance in data analysis, conducting workshops on Geographic Information Systems, data presentation, and other cutting-edge data platforms and topics.

Mai received a BA in Political Science and Sustainable Development, an MPH in Epidemiology, and a MS in Urban Planning with a concentration in Urban Analytics from Columbia University.
