Visualize COVID-19 Data

Now you have all the data ready, let’s visualize them! First of all check the data type of the data you want to visualize.

Change the data type to integer

  1. covid_county -> Attribute Table -> Field Calculator
    • Output field name: cases
    • Whole number
    • Field and Values:
      • Under Fields and Values, select covid_cases
  2. Toggle editing

Visualize COVID-19 Cases

  1. covid_county -> Properties -> Symbology
    • Graduated
    • Value: cases
    • Color ramp: Purples
    • Mode: Natural Breaks
    • Classes: 5
      • Change the first value to 0
  2. Change the mode to Equal Count (Quantile)
  3. Rename layer
    • covid_county -> Rename Layer
      • Rename it to "covid_county_cases"
  4. Change map projection
    • ESPG: 2163

Try it yourself: Visualize COVID-19 Deaths

  1. covid_county_cases -> Duplicate Layer
    • covid_county_cases_copy -> Rename layer
      • Rename it to "covid_county_deaths"
    • Change the data type to Integer
      • Attribute table -> Field Calculator
        • Output field name: deaths
        • Output type: Whole number
        • Under Fields and Values, select covid_deat
  2. covid_county_deaths -> Properties -> Symbology
    • Graduated
    • Value: deaths
    • Color ramp: Blues
    • Mode: Equal Count (Quantile)
    • Class: 5
      • Change the first value to 0
  3. Change map projection
    • ESPG: 2163

Visualize Mask Survey

  1. mask_covid_county -> Properties -> Symbology
    • Graduated
    • Values: always_prc
    • Color ramp: Spectral
    • Mode: Equal Count (Quantile)
    • Classes: 4
  2. Change map projection
    • ESPG: 2163
